Definition of Done
What is it?
Definition of Done is a checklist that must be satisfied before a task is considered finished. Not just 'it works on my machine' but: code is written, tests pass, reviewed, deployed to staging, approved by you, and deployed to production.
Why does it matter?
'Done' means the same thing every time. No ambiguity about whether something is truly finished. You know exactly what to expect at every milestone because the criteria are written down and consistent.
Benefits
For you
Clear, consistent completion criteria. No ambiguity about what 'done' means. You know what to expect at every milestone.
For the build
Eliminates ambiguity. Consistent quality bar. Every task follows the same path to completion.
